At Chehalem Hill Vineyard, we are proud to be part of the Laurelwood District AVA, one of Oregon's newest American Viticultural Areas, officially recognized in June 2020. This emerging AVA, situated within the renowned Chehalem Mountains AVA, is characterized by its unique soil series, primarily composed of a 15-million-year-old basalt base topped with a layer of loess—windblown freshwater silt that has accumulated over the past 200,000 years. The distinctive soils of Chehalem Hill provide an ideal environment for our vines, allowing us to cultivate grapes that reflect the complexity and richness of this remarkable terroir. As our grapes ripen, they absorb the essence of the land, resulting in wines that are expressive and carry the hallmark of the region's unique characteristics.
At Chehalem Hill Vineyard, we understand that the foundation of exceptional wine lies in the soil and the care given to the vines. The Laurelwood soil, with its unique composition, plays a crucial role in developing the vibrant flavors and aromas that our grapes are known for. Our Pinot Noirs are celebrated for their complexity, showcasing a spectrum of fruit flavors, floral notes, and a hint of spice, while our Chardonnays offer a refined elegance that captivates the palate.
We work closely with Results Partners who have a well-established reputation for excellence in vineyard development and management.
